Vooma: Transforming Freight Operations with AI
We sat down with the founders of Vooma to talk about AI– and how their platform is helping brokers and carriers spend their time on more meaningful work.
Since their launch in 2022, they've worked with the industry’s top brokers and carriers, including Axle Logistics, WWEX, Sunset Transportation, and more.
“What we’re building towards is how to actually have AI that learns and understands all of the nuance that goes into moving freight, what are all of these minor, specific details."
The two connected in the logistics sphere through a mutual friend and a self-driving idea Jesse had. They soon started exploring with a vision of building a universal broker/dispatcher for the trucking industry, and in 2023, officially launched Vooma.
Recently, the company announced $16.6M in funding to scale their operations.
Alongside their funding, they've announced their newest product: Vooma Voice. It enables their Vooma Agents to make and receive calls, as a standalone voice agent or as part of a multi-channel workflow.
What's next for the company? Mike and Jesse are expecting to expand their team across engineering, product, sales, and customer success to keep pace with their rapid growth.
In this episode, you'll discover:
The Tech Race: Why Mike and Jesse think AI and tech are not an ‘if’, but a ‘when’ situation.
Smarter, Faster, Better: How Vooma is helping make teams more efficient with their platform and newest product, Vooma Voice.
The AI Forecast: Their bold predictions for AI, and why they think humans communicating across freight is going to be dramatically lower than it is today.
Here's what they had to say on the future of AI:
“Bold prediction here is that within a couple of years, the shift of humans communicating across freight is going to be dramatically lower than it is today, and that there will be AI that represents all of the stakeholders in the ecosystem- both brokers and carriers, shippers, and AI – is going to be handling a lot of that communication."

What’s one thing you wish more brokers understood about carriers like you?
Not all carriers chase freight from A to B to C to D. Our operation is strictly "out and back."
Running a successful trucking operation means doing more with less, and CtrlChain makes that possible.
With automated systems, carriers can take on more freight without adding staff, scaling volume while keeping overhead low. Smarter route and trip planning cuts deadhead miles and wasted hours, while real-time dashboards keep performance in check, spotting potential issues before they become costly.
Automation in the back office frees you from endless paperwork, giving you more time to focus on booking and moving loads. Every tool works together to make operations leaner, smarter, and more profitable.
